On graduating from her interior design degree at Trent Polytechnic in 1990, Piter has worked exclusively in the marine field.

Piter began her career at Teylor Design Consultants where she worked with Cunard on the refit of the QE2 in Hamburg 1992.

Hooked on ships, in 1993 Piter joined VMC Design. During her ten years with VMC Piter worked on a number of prestige projects for high profile clients. Highlights include; being solely responsible for the refurbishments of Raynbow Harmony (1994) and Vega Star (1996), the design and installation of the Connoisseur Club cigar and cognac lounge on Crystal Symphony (1999) and Crystal Harmony (2002), and leading the VMC team for Cruises Venus (2000), where Piter was responsible for the 4-deck high Atrium (including its shops & bars), Cafe Bordeaux 24 hour bistro, Champions sports bar, Carmens cabaret lounge and, together with Cruises Venus, she pioneered the design of the children and teen centre, now a benchmark in the industry.

Single minded in her ambition, Piter founded JXKX Associates to offer outstanding design services, bringing the best of modern design to a marine environment.
